I confess…

…7 years into this mom thing I still feel like I don’t have it all figured out & I know I probably never will!

…my office views are pretty spectacular today, as I sit in my jammies, slippers and sweatshirt sipping on a Starbucks and see the beautiful white snow covered ground.

…I love that my daughter’s school has a “Books & Breakfast” program.  Once a month she goes to school early, Joe takes her, and then he gets to treat himself to some Chic-Fil-A breakfast sandwich.

…we are taking the kids to see Dinosaur Live Tour tonight and they are pumped!

…I am not looking forward to fasting/doing an endoscopy but I welcome all positive prayers and vibes that my esophagus looks well and that I won’t need any crazy medication.

….we had some of our renters become homeowners yesterday! It’s so exciting.

…as pretty as the snow is, I really miss the hot sun, sweating and feeling warm wind in my face.

…I am currently looking for my first 5k.  I am not a runner, but I’ve always wanted to do one, and some people say they’re easy, but I have never in my life run 3 miles at once, so I’m excited for this journey!

…I have been reading some amazing books lately!  I am already putting together a blog post about them.  Thrillers and crazy people…good times!

…I’ve started setting my alarm for 5:50 and I have actually been getting up.

…we still don’t want to talk about the Super Bowl.

….Rachel Hollis continues to motivate me daily.  Have you moved your body for 30 minutes today? I did yoga.

…Bailey is seriously just like a toddler.  At 2, she can be so sweet and snuggly, sleeping quietly and the next minute, she’s tearing up garbage from a bathroom or running around with someone’s shoe.

…I tried to use a check from our Business account at the store the other week and their machine ate the check because, “Who even uses checks any more?” #oops

…when I physically write, I place the pen in my right hand, on my ring finger…I feel like that’s weird?

…so far February has made me push out of my comfort zone a bit and it’s uncomfortable, but that is good!!

…I am not sure what to make for our Valentine’s Day menu with the kiddos.  Any ideas?!

…I love all the red & pink hearts this month.  Yay for love!

…my Roomba broke—help! It ran over a floor register and a piece snapped.

…I’m looking forward to having both kids home February break! I love them here.

Last Month of 2019

We are in the final few weeks of December, the last few weeks of the year and decade!! What will you be doing for yourself, for others and how will you live into your best self? I am all about self-development and goal setting, goal crushing and making magic happen.  I feel like so many of us are pushing extra hard right now knowing it will soon be time to rest and relax with friends and family.  We will be ringing in the new year and all sorts of exciting plans will unfold into 2020.

I used to get that pit in my stomach feeling on Sunday nights when I taught.  I know, it was a “dream job” of mine, but I dreaded the long commute, the long hours away from Joe and a lot of the stresses that came with my said dream job.  I know not everyone has the ability to stay home and raise their babies, but we all have choices.  We are not trees, deeply rooted and planted in the ground.  We can evolve, change, grow, heck we can even literally move!! Hate where you live?  Pack it on up and try some place new.

So many people are unhappy simply because they don’t even know what it is they want.  We are so bombarded with media that we never allow ourselves time to think, breathe, be.  If you’re feeling super overwhelmed, flustered and like everything is out of your control, the best thing I find myself doing is getting quiet.  Take out that journal (thank you again to my Life Coach Lindsay Preston) and write it out.

You will not live a life you love, if you don’t even know what it is you want from life.

Last week Bradley got sick–out of no where, poor thing was down and out—and then as he got better, I started to crash. My “To-Do List” was super long and I had this extreme urge to get out of the house because I felt trapped, but my body said NOPE.  If we don’t get quiet and allow ourselves time to rest, our bodies will decide for us.

It was not easy to lay back down in my bed.  To not leave the house. To not pop the Advil and just go about the day, but I knew if I just gave myself some time to heal, maybe it wouldn’t get so bad…

But the point is, if we don’t allow ourselves the time, we will never be able to achieve all that we are capable of doing.  So even amongst the chaos, I challenge you to wake up a little early, or sneak away during lunch, or hide in the bathroom for an extra 5 minutes and truly think about what it is you want out of life.

Then make a plan.  Talk it through with your besties, your spouse, your sister, whomever your tribe is, and just go for it.  Feel the fear, feel the nerves and just press start.

If you’re hating on your Monday, that’s no way to live Sis.  Life isn’t always easy, but you should wake up with a full heart and spend your time doing what mostly makes you happy.  (Like dishes, I’m grateful for clean plates and food to eat, but I don’t love them dishes!!)

Share some of your goals with me!  I write them in my Start Today Journal every stinking day.  I write them as if they’ve already happened.  Some are big and scary and some are just out of my reach, but I still write them down and each morning think about how I can come closer to achieving them.  (I’ve been doing this since October 1st!!)

These are just a few of mine!

I live in my dream house.

I am an exceptional wife and mama.

I travel & vacation yearly.

By taking 5-60 minutes a day for myself, I have seen such a BIG difference in my ability to be the best wife, mom, daughter, sister, friend, investor, whatever! I fill my cup (literally with water and tea/Energize) write in my journal, read a bit from a devotional, journal, sometimes workout, sometimes just stretch.  Sometimes, to be honest, I sit and stare. It’s quiet. It’s just me time. And often, that’s the only time that I get for myself.

E-mail me or comment below ONE goal for yourself.  Let’s do this together!!  You don’t need Rachel Hollis’ fun journal, you can use a $1 store notebook.  Let’s go!

I Confess…

I miss the link up for these!! {If there’s a new one, someone please LMK! K thanks.}

…I’m on day 2 of my cleanse and I’ve got a whole chicken in the slow cooker—I’m dying to eat it and it’s no where near dinner time.

…Yes I am still doing Advocare cleanses.  They are gentle and effective and my body just seems to reset just perfectly when I do them!

…I went to step on my scale yesterday and the batteries were dead.  NOT COOL! I need to know how many el-bees I lose man!!

…I am super pumped that my husband agreed to go speak on a panel again for an awesome Auto Financial Group conference.  Mama gets to go again too—yay!!

…On that note, we are staying at this beyond gorgeous & swanky Hotel Monteleone.  You guys, there is a carousel bar.  Yes, an actual carousel that spins slowly while you sippy your drinky!

…I am in a silly mood.  I just finished a great uplifting audiobook, maybe it is that.

…For real though, I love the way Marie tells her truth bombs and sprinkles adult language throughout the book. It’s real life and quite motivating! Her uplifting and encouraging spirit brought me here to type a blog post!

…Every time my dishwasher beeps, Joe typically says, “Jennnnnnnn” when he’s here.  Now even when he’s not here, that’s all that I can hear when the damn thing beeps.  It’s funny bc it’s true.  I’m the only one who really unloads the dishes.  Well, Brooke helps with the silverware.  And I am not complaining; I love my dishwasher!

…I’m still going at it with 100 Morning Meltdown, but I adapted so I can do it at the gym or I’ll just do other cardio instead of her crazy plyo moves.

…I’m sore from the Meltcon workout I did yesterday.

…One of my favorite YouTubers launched some Merch!! Check out her adorable sweatshirts and tees here!!!

…Ya’ll know I’m a Rachel Hollis fangirl and I have been so excited that the last 90 Days is coming up!! People, we have less than 100 days until 2020—what are you doing to make it count??  I cannot wait to break out that new journal.

…One of my favorite authors/spiritual ladies Gabby Bernstein had a new book launch today and as soon as my audible credit loads (as it does the 24th of every month) you bet that I’ll be listening to her!!  She mentioned on Good Morning America today that yes it’s about talking about getting what you want in life, but first and foremost you must feel good in order to receive.  YES!!

…Why yes, I am a book & journal nerd and I’m not mad about it.  I also just love the feeling of completing a book or finishing writing in a journal.

…Prayers up for my dad.  He’s having a small procedure done Wednesday and as always, good vibes & health are always welcome.

…There is no better feeling than being in alignment or my authentic self.

…Fall is in the air and me breaking my pumpkin cold foam chai addiction is real.

…Gratitude does do so much for the soul!!  I’ve been doing my Start Today Journal after I personally journal and there is always something to be grateful for.

…”Create before you consume” is also my morning routine motto.  Before I let in anyone else, I let my own inner light, soul and beauty shine on paper, in my mind and heart.

Have a fabulous Tuesday friends!

Life According to Steph

Happy Tuesday!!

I’m so stinkin excited to be linking up today with Steph and this book link up.  I haven’t shared my books that I’ve read so far all in one blog, so I thought it’d be good to start! Hopefully it will continue to inspire me to hit my goal of reading 52 books this year.

I have finished 18 books so far; some have been audiobooks and some I have actually read.  I hope to actually sit and read more in the Summer months, but I am happy so far with the progress I have made.

If you’re interested in following my reading journey, checkout my Instagram and look under my book highlight to see what I’ve read!

This book came highly recommended and it was a quick listen.  I think it was a bit over-played, as it didn’t exactly live up the the hype, but I can see how it rocked the YA world.

img_3101

This was a great and fast listen!! A retired US Navy Seal shares his insights on how to have continued success by doing the simplest of things.  Great motivation!

img_3102

I do love Kristin Hannah’s style writing, and this did not disappoint.  If you enjoy reading about survival in Alaska, plus mix in a father who battles a severe mental disorder and a wife/mom who pretty much refuses to leave his side, you will enjoy this book.  The character reminds me a bit of the memoir Educated but it has its own twists and turns.

img_3103

I thought this would be a really great suspenseful page turner—it wasn’t.  Between the British verbiage and it being a slow go, I wasn’t super impressed.  My bestie and I were determined to finish it though, and we did!

img_3104

This has been on my TBR list forever and it was good!! I feel like Brene drops truth bombs like the best of them, and this book was a good listen to boost your sense of authenticity and desire to open up more.  Can’t go wrong with Brown’s work!

img_3105

Good old Rachel Hollis recommended this one to me, and it was an okay read.  Not much ground breaking and she lost me in some of her religion chapters—just not my thing.  It definitely is good to hear other mamas say it’s ok to slow down and to stop trying to be so perfect–so if you’re feeling a little lost and lonely as a mom, this may be worth picking up.

img_3106

Switching gears a bit, I listened to this in hopes to really broaden my financial horizons.  Unfortunately I didn’t pick up anything terribly new and I told my husband he could have written a better book.   It was cool to hear about our business (rent to own/lease option) and how we’re definitely being smart with our money and investments rather than having all liabilities.

img_3107

This was an Advanced Reader copy and gosh, how incredible!!  The love story, the mother/daughter relationship, family genes…and even a bit of a twist with some history (9/11) playing a role.  This was beautifully told and not something I would normally pick up, so I am so happy I was given a copy!  Great writing style too…loved it!

img_3108

Our book club picked this kidnapping mystery and it was a bit gory for me but I plowed through!  It took a bit for me to get into, but once I was in, I literally stayed up until 1am to finish it.

img_3109

LOVED this one!! It’s cheesy, and not incredibly written but boy did it bring me right back to college and all the feels of thinking about boys and dating, parties, fitting in, etc.   Most of us have had at least one (or a few) boyfriends that just didn’t deserve the time of day after the first (or 5th) breakup.  Super quick read, probably great for the beach!  I enjoyed getting lost in this story.

Aw, yeah!! GWYF (Girl Wash Your Face) was a great little appetizer, but Rachel brings out the big guns in this one.  Most of you won’t be ready to hear what she has to say, or disagree with most of it.  But some of us?  We get it, and thank you Rachel for always pushing us to be better than we were before.

img_1818

Oh this little tiny gem of a book! If you sell anything, GRAB YOURSELF A COPY!!

img_3112

This was an ok listen.  Nothing really standing out to me weeks later, but it had some good info.  I feel like most PD books are repeating themselves so I have taken a little break from them…

img_3113-2

Loved this one!! I have described it as a ‘slow burn’ but I really enjoyed the way it was written!  All of the band members tell the story and it’s all sex drugs and rock and roll.

img_3099

Before my “PD break” I did listen to this one…he does a great job at explaining why some companies (Google, WalMart, Apple) succeed and why others don’t.  I appreciated it as a business owner and would recommend it if you enjoy learning about the science behind how the brain works etc.

img_3098-1

Love and Other Words—ahhh.  A super great listen, but it has some plot twists that make your head spin!  True love, the loss of a parent, and other tangled pieces create this story.  If you’re traveling, scoop this up on audio!

img_2693

Lastly, I just discovered the app HOOPLA which provides more free titles through the library.  My bestie finished this over her Spring break and legit had a book hangover for weeks, so I knew I had to read this.  15 hours and I was done within days you guys! Historical fiction, WWI & II–these characters’ lives intertwine and you learn some real crazy from the point of view of a woman spy.  Must read!!

What have you been reading?!

Vlog: Being Kind and Doing You

I felt like sharing what was on my mind via a vlog the other day.  Fresh from the gym, super motivated to live my best life and I thought maybe someone would need to hear these words.  We are not perfect, no one is.  Isn’t life just about better than you were yesterday?  In a world where everyone is so quick to judge and tear one another down, I have been really looking inside myself and working towards being the best Jenn that I can be.  It’s really that simple friends.

Have a beautiful Thursday!
