Christmas Questions

Happy Friday and just 5 more days until the big guy comes down the chimney! I saw these fun questions over at Danielle’s blog, Sparkles & Lattes so I thought it would be a fun thing to share.  If you haven’t checked out her blog, do so! She’s got some great posts on Amazon Finds and overall life happenings.  It’s always a joy to look through her posts!

I’ve got a busy day going into the classrooms and enjoying the magic of a Pre-K holiday performance and a first grade holiday craft.  Super grateful I grabbed a BOGO at Starbs yesterday!  I enjoyed a chai yesterday and scored a Matcha Green tea for today.

1. Candy canes. Yes or no? Yes! I love them.  I prefer the standard red and white mint, but my family seems to like the fruity flavored colored ones.  I just had one yesterday!

2. Christmas morning early riser or sleep in? Joe and I get up around 6 am (or earlier) every day anyway, and I swear we are more excited than the kids Christmas morning! Joe loves building a huge fire in the fire place and we play Christmas music, I sip tea and we wait for the kids to come out!

3. Do you shop on Black Friday? Yes or no?  Not in the stores. I did find some deals online, but I have zero desire to brave the crowds.  Plus I’d need to hire a sitter so as not to drag the kids out with me, since Joe works.

4. Christmas trees up in November? Nope.  We are “Team Turkey” and really enjoy all things Thanksgiving, and then the first weekend in December we’ll get our lovely tree.

5. Do you get holiday ideas from Pinterest? Yes or no? I do! I found some yummy eats I’m going to try for Christmas {like this Cheesy Tater Tot Breakfast Casserole} and even over Christmas break I’d like to cook a bit more.  I love browsing but never put the “Pinterest Pressure” on myself to be perfect.
6. Christmas glam or ugly sweater? Depends on my mood, I have done both!! We got silly sweaters a few years ago and we also just like dressing a little nice some years.
This is Joe’s Ugly sweater he wears! He loves it.

7. Stocking stuffers: wrapped or unwrapped?Santa always wrapped ours in tissue paper and we opened them FIRST before we did presents.  Then I met Joe.  He grew up with things wrapped and opened them LAST after gifts.  It’s still an adjustment for me after all these years!
8. Tradtional or modern Christmas songs?I adore Christmas music so I enjoy both, but man the nostalgia that comes with the classics really tug at my heart strings! SO many beautiful memories growing up on High Street in our cozy little home, my two sisters and parents.  I also think a lot about my Grandparents at this time and the words of Christmas songs really have so much meaning the older you get.  My absolute favorite Christmas song is, “Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”  The part where they sing,
Through the years we all will be together
If the fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough
And have yourself a merry little Christmas now
gets me every time.  Maybe it’s because as I age I realize how nothing is forever and that these are all just pockets of memories and moments that will last for as long as we do.   I love getting together with friends and family and enjoying this time of year, and hope that I’m making my children’s childhood as magical as mine was.
9. Fruitcake? Yes or no?Ya know, I’m not sure if I’ve ever even tried?! I’m more about the cookies!
10. Is your Christmas shopping finished? Yes or no? Almost!  I still have a few people I want to actually get out and look in stores for, but I have had a wonky two weeks and not a ton of time. I’m hoping this weekend to finish up and WRAP!!!
11. Is there snow in December where you live? There is right now!! We’ve had a lot of snow already this month, but the weather forecast looks like it will melt it all before Christmas.  I do love a White Christmas, but I could go for some warmer temp!
12. Classic show: A Charlie Brown Christmas or Rudolph?I have to say that whenever I try to watch anything Charlie Brown, I can’t take the negativity! He’s so ‘womp womp’!  So Rudolph all the way.  Bradley loves the movie so much he’s been known to watch it Summer, Spring, Fall and Winter.
I’d love to read your responses!! Comment below on a few or tag me if you share on social media.  Remember, don’t get your tinsel in a tangle!! Enjoy friends!

Autumn Tag

Early-Autumn-Tag-pinterest

Writer’s Block has hit (hello, it’s been a few weeks and my words don’t know where to begin again!) But as with anything in life, you’re supposed to just start. Don’t overthink, don’t sit and ponder, just jump in and take action! So here we go.

I googled Fall Bog Tags, and this one came up.  (I know it’s not early autumn, but hey it still worked!) I thought it’d be a fun and easy way to get back into the writing groove.

1- Favorite thing about Autumn?   The changing of the leaves.  I am obsessed with the colors this year!  I also love how it slows me down and I find myself being very present and in the moment.

2- Spooky Autumn or cozy Autumn?  Personally, I love cozy and cute.  I would not really call myself much of a spooky fan at all, however I married a man who loves halloween and all scary things, so there’s a nice mix here at our house.  My little guy who’s 4 is still a little spooked of some things, but even the kids love scary Halloween stuff!
3- Haunted house or Halloween party? I would much prefer a party, I don’t love being scared out of my mind!  I am thinking next year we have a Halloween party for the kids.  We always had them growing up and my dad (and his buddy) would dress up and scare us.  We’d wear costumes and dance around, play the donut on a string game, bob for apples…simple sweet memories!
4- Carve pumpkins or paint pumpkins? I love the look of a carved pumpkin.  Even if we just do a simple face, the glow and the memories are my favorite.  I do like a pretty painted pumpkin, but I just don’t like to do them.
5- Go apple picking or go on a hay ride? I’ve never actually gone apple picking, so I’ll go with hay ride.  I would love to get the kids on a hay ride before the season is over! They go with Joe at the land behind his lawn mower and always have a ball.
6- Pumpkin spice lattes or mulled apple cider? Apple cider.  I used to love PSL but I don’t drink coffee any more.  However, the pumpkin cold foam chai was pretty tasty! I should get one more before they’re gone…
7- What did you dress up for Halloween last year? I didn’t!  We didn’t go to any parties and Joe had to work late, we kind of rushed Halloween last year and I am hoping it won’t be so crazy this year. As for this year’s costume, it will be fun though.  Stay tuned!
8- Falling rain or a crackling fireplace? Ooooh, can I have both?!  I love being cozy inside when it’s raining out, but that fire will always be my favorite.  We currently have a real fire place which smells and feels amazing, I just don’t love the mess.  In my dream bedroom I’ll have a gas fireplace!
9- Have you purchased any fall decor yet? I bought some pumpkins and mums for outside.  I usually buy one new seasonal item to add to my collections, but I don’t think I bought anything this year?  Maybe when they go on clearance I’ll take a look~
10- Favorite photo that you took last fall? I just took these these this year.

11- Favorite Autumn-themed movie? You’ve Got Mail.  LOVE Meg Ryan & Tom Hanks.
12- Favorite color to wear in Autumn? Mustard or purples.  I also love black, and I feel that it’s very appropriate for Fall!
13- Favorite Autumn-themed book? I’ll read a thriller or mystery…just finished Sharp Objects, that was a good one to read in October!
14- Best way to spend a rainy day? Tea, a good book, cuddles on the couch with the dogs and kids–maybe even a nap!
15- Favorite Autumn food? Pumpkin or butternut squash soup. I am using my slow cookers all the time right now! I also love baking breads, muffins, all the yummy and heartier things.
16- Favorite Autumn quote?

17- Favorite Autumn leaf? Probably that red maple you’d see above.  My husband and I keep seeing these gorgeous bushes that are turning from a green to an amazing red–we need to find out what kind they are!
18- Favorite Autumn activity? Walks in the leaves, picking out our pumpkins, baking and cooking!
19- Favorite Autumn scent? Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin, anything maple, apple, I love food scents.
20- Is your birthday in Autumn?  No, but my husband’s is!! October 9th.

Today

Stopping by with a quickie today!!

I must say that my 21 day habits with my Life Coach Lindsay Preston during this Unstoppable Woman course are SOOO worth it!  I am not one to successfully complete something for x amount of straight days, without making an excuse.  Sure, I do stepbets, but they’re for 6 weeks and you get a day off in the week.  But here is something so powerful in doing the same thing for 13 days straight—I feel so empowered!  I also feel so much more at ease, I think because I’m doing a daily yoga practice.  I cannot wait to see how I’m doing after 21 days!!

My 3 habits:

1.) Daily Mantra: I am free to be me.

2.) 10 (or more) minutes of Yoga with Adriene.

3.) Blogging every day— have you noticed that yet?  🙂

I am content.  I am grounded.  I am satisfied.  I am happy.  I am rich.  I am loved.  I am strong.  I am healthy.  I am alive. I am free.  I am me. I am love.

What is one small habit you could do daily for 21 days straight? (Small, attainable and something to fill a need.)

Wellness Wednesday: Unstoppable Woman

I am woman, hear me ROAR!  Is it just me or does even the name of this course want to make you just jump up and scream?! In a good way of course.  Wowza ladies — I am entering into my 3rd week of The Become an Unstoppable Woman course with Lindsay Preston.  Can I just stop and say a few words?  And no, I’m not just blowing smoke, nor am I lying, but you guys, LIFE IS SO FREAKING GREAT!!!  Is it perfect?  Heck no.  I’m not looking for perfection though, I am working towards two (yup, just two!) goals at the moment.  These are my 90 Day Goals that I set with Lindsay on a personal VIP call with her.  (Totally worth every stinkin penny to get on that phone with this incredible woman!!)  Remember, a goal without an action is just a day dream. It’s important that your goals be measurable, attainable and within a time frame.

She took me step by step on crafting these goals.  The first goal kind of came out naturally as I had been thinking about it for a bit; I felt like it was something kind of gnawing at me from the inside out.  The second one took some time discussing with Lindsay thoughts that were swirling around in my mind.

My First Goal:

I will be able to communicate who I am at a level 10.  (scale 1-10) I will not hide/skirt around my needs/wants/desires.  At the end of 90 days I will be FREE TO BE ME.  I will live in my authentic voice and not worry about what others think about me. Right now I feel like my communication about me is at a 6; I am uncomfortable celebrating WINS and truly share what’s on my heart at times.

Mantra:  I am free to be me.

My Second Goal:

By the end of Unstoppable, I’ll be at a 10 with my time management.  I will feel less chaotic, and there will be a flow with my days.  I currently feel like I’m at a 3– feeling unproductive, flying around the house/driving here, there and everywhere trying to keep up with everyone and everything with very little time “for me.”

Mantra:  My time is valuable.

It took me some time to think of a good mantra, because I wanted it to be short and sweet, as well as effective!! I have noticed GREAT improvements with my mind just by repeating the original mantra I came up with in the Life Luvers course, I am worthy.

{Remember you can still use code: JENN20 and save $20 and grab the Life Luvers course for just $77!!}

I will be totally honest and say that I kind of thought mantras were dumb.  I have tried affirmations before but they didn’t really do much for me and never really made me feel any different.  The only thing I can attribute this current success is that Lindsay’s course took me through a process (which is backed by neuroscience!) to really delve into my inner beliefs, subconscious thoughts and figure out why the heck I feel stuck!!

In module 1 we really discussed the need to write more.  Like a lot more.  Like every. Single. Day. More. 30+ minutes you should write and reflect.

Did you know writing can:

  • increase self awareness and you’ll feel less crappy?
  •  increase your thinking ability and you’ll be more authentic
  • “get you out of your own head”
  • reduce stress
  • open yourself up to self-love/compassion

I find it very odd when people don’t want to love on themselves, or think about what it is they truly want.  The biggest and most important relationship you can have is with yourself.  (I’m sure some will roll their eyes and say, no it should be with God but I’m not here to have a religious debate) and that’s fine.  But if God’s first, I sure hope you’re a super close second.  No one will be with you, in your mind, in your heart, and for the rest of YOUR LIFE.  If you’re unhappy, jealous, insecure, frustrated, feeling like the world is out to get your, mad at this person, ticked off about that…then you’ve got some work to do girlfriend. The good news? You don’t have to do it alone.

If anyone tells you that you shouldn’t work on you or ‘do you’ or spend time with yourself, I AM CALLING MAJOR BS!! That person most likely has some severe (and I mean SEVERE) IMG (inner mean girl) issues that she has not nor is ready to address.  I will say that it has been super hard for me to put myself first, as a mom and wife to a very busy/hard working man, I often leave myself off the to-do list.  I may not take the time to meal prep to eat like I should, invest time at the gym/exercise, enjoy quiet time with a book, write in my journal, tap my fingers on these old keys…and since taking Lindsay’s courses, something major has happened.  I feel as though I’m becoming who I am truly meant to be.

Another tool that’s been SO useful is what Lindsay refers to as “Do You Time.”

  • it is not selfish
  • it is needed
  • it is more than okay to prioritize yourself

My list of “do you time” includes things like:

  • Zumba class
  • blogging
  • reading
  • cooking/baking
  • walks outside
  • tea time
  • long hot shower
  • specific playlists (soft jazz or even some gangsta rap, depending on my moods!)
  • spa day
  • slowing down
  • taking photos

I’m so excited for this continued journey and am going to be opening up more on my next post about my personal ‘bullet holes’ aka, limiting beliefs that are causing me to not progress further.  They’re not fun to talk about, bring up, or even think about, but I am sharing my story here in hopes that it inspires another woman to be able to work more on herself.

I’ve been truly connecting with a divine presence lately and feel as though I am called to be more vulnerable, authentic and share some of my pains/hurts in hopes that it helps others.  If I can help even just one more woman out there, then I know my words here are not useless.  I am here to inspire, that is all!

(Sneak peek:  My timeline of my memories starts with me being born in 1981, my family, attending college 1999-2003, landing my dream job teaching, my parents’ divorce, a bad relationship/breakup, meeting my now husband, my Master’s degree, parental drama, and much more! I will reveal some of my ‘bullet holes’ from these memories.)

Don’t forget that Lindsay offers a free assessment for you to see if you’d be a good match to work with her and become a Life Luver or even better, an Unstoppable Woman! If you have any questions don’t hesitate to e-mail me jenndellefave@gmail and I’ll happily share more thoughts on this life coaching experience.

Ugly Disco

The Disco is over!! (insert sad face!) We have now been to the Ugly Disco 8 times.  I was so excited Friday night, I had trouble sleeping, and I actually went back through my old blog posts to count and see! (Pics are below!)

It’s a great cause as the money is raised to support the Golissano Children’s Hospital here in Rochester.

Friday I got my nails done in a white gel polish to match my go go boots!

I wanted to get a really fun and flirty light pink pout, so I found some of these drugstore lip products to play with.  I really liked how they came out!!

Cheers!

I got this super fun dress on Amazon & I also needed a new pair of Go Go Boots because my old pair literally broke for good last year!! These were super comfy and I could have kept on dancing all night long!!

White Go Go Boots (I wear a size 9 shoe and I got the large; they fit perfectly!)

Dress I ordered a small in the dress, and it was small! It said up to 120 lbs which I’m around 138 here, so it was snug.  I always wear booty shorts under the dress anyway, but it did come with a cute headband, clip on earrings (I didn’t wear) and these super fun pink glasses!

And can we all just say a big giant thank you for spray tans!! Goodness an all over tan glow makes a girl feel SO good!!

I’ve been trying to work out and eat better, more consistently; I’m not where I *want* to be, but I am happy with the progress I’m making with the efforts I’ve been putting in.  I have been loving my workouts at the gym and look forward to continuing my health journey.   It’s no joke staying fit and living a busy life!  I have to thank all those years of dance for making it easier for my legs to get into good shape though.  Muscle memory is real.  (And Catalyst is the bomb!)

We took an uber there and back.

Joe and his get up gets so many compliments and I took so many photos of him and other ladies it was quite hysterical!

Joe’s long time friend Chris and his girlfriend are always fun to hang out with.  Thanks for a fun night guys!!

I ran into my friend Becki who was dressed up as the 1970’s Honey Nut Cheerio Bee!!!

It’s so hard to take photos when you’re all dancing to great music haha!

And some flashbacks from year’s past…

2019

It’s seriously the best time and we look forward to going every year!  The only years we didn’t go were right after we had the babies (both were born in January and the disco was in February, so mama wasn’t quite ready to boogie in a little disco dress!) And another year his cousin got married, but other than that you can expect us to bring the house down each year at the Ugly Disco!
