I started my blog in Fall of 2011. I just walked away from teaching to be a stay at home wife. Yup. 1950’s style housewife. Joe worked at the local car dealership and made decent money, and we knew we wanted me to stay home and raise our babies when that time came…so I did the unthinkable. I stayed home.
Boy that raised a lot of eyebrows! My dad was not happy and a lot of people could not understand why I would stop teaching after 8 years, getting 2 degrees to to do so. But the reality was, I married my best friend, the love of my life and we NEVER saw each other. He worked late night at the dealership two nights a week and on Saturdays. Since I worked Monday through Friday, that left us with Saturday nights to have a real date night and Sundays.
But back to blogging…it was something I had always wanted to do. I’ve enjoyed writing since I was little and of course in early adulthood went through my Carrie Bradshaw SATC phase where I lusted over her closet and the dream job of being a writer in NYC. While I do still love fashion, my little blog turned into a place where I dumped out my thoughts, hopes, dreams, goals and online diary of being a suburban housewife, turned stay at home mom which I took very seriously. Through pregnancies, babies, toddlers, health concerns and books I enjoy, I turned to this spot on the internet where I just wrote. I don’t know why but just getting something out of my head always feels better! Sometimes I get into a zone where the words flow and I look back and read them and don’t even remember doing so…weird but fascinating.
Once life got rather busy, blogging took a back burner. In my head I told myself that it was not directly making us money, aka what I would call an “income producing task” I wouldn’t do it. No time! This happened around 2020 after Covid rock all of our worlds and we took our little real estate gig full time. I would sit and try to write from time to time but it was never the same. I will say that the hustle season is how I got here, and I’d probably do it all again but I want to share more on that in this blog. You do not have to burn the candle at both ends until there is nothing left. You can still carve out joy and make space and have boundaries. Living as a robot will not last forever and especially as a woman, you need to be in your feminine.
So where I’ll take this blog exactly? I honestly don’t know. There are so many angles and cracks and crevices of life but when I saw this post last night about blogging coming back…something in me stirred. The pendulum has started to swing and I do believe our souls and minds crave more than a 30 second tiktok from time to time. As much as AI intimidates me it also will be so valuable in a lot of ways but it cannot replace the need for human connection.
Things I’d love to blog about:
- Homeschooling (started our 6th year!)
- Living in Florida
- Non contact Family members
- 45 Perimenopause Hormones/Supplement fun
- Running a business
- Real estate investing
- Books I’m reading
- Cooking
- Travel
- Boring diary entries/stream of consciousness (like today’s)
I’ll be honest there are people that will probably read my words that I’d rather them not, but c’est la vie. I’ve always felt if my words could just help ONE person feel better, find joy or hope, inspire them to do something–anything for the better, then it is worth it. We cannot live our lives in silence. Some of us are great with our voices and speaking (my sweet husband!) and some of us just love getting it all out with our finger tips.
So there you have it. I make no promises to anyone but myself.
I’m working on clearing my throat chakra, and could totally use one of these again!
So if you’re new here, say hello. If you’ve been with me since the beginning, hi!!
I missed all of this.
