Joe had gone in for a CT scan as his Crohn’s Disease was really acting up.  Immediately after the scan the tech said that the Dr would call about the findings…we were scared!

He came home and because we had just taken our little part time real estate business full time, I had scheduled a Facebook Live for that day.

I had my little script ready and when Joe got home, we went outside on our back deck, sunglasses on and went live.  We talked all about how we can help sellers with their properties by paying full price. If you watch the video you can see how nervous we were!

After that video, the Dr called and told Joe he had to go to the ER because he had a collapsed lung.  Yes, he had inflammation with his Crohn’s, but the real emergency was that he had been walking around for 2 weeks with ONE lung working.

He was admitted and had a chest tube put in (wrong) and ended up having to get another one done properly.   I felt so bad!

On top of this, it was June 2020 in NY, where the pandemic was a really big deal.  Most things were barely open and no one was going anywhere without a mask.

June 25th, we had our first official closing on a creative finance deal.  The sellers were moving from NY to NC and all we had to do was sign the paperwork.

So what option did we have?   Show up and get the job done.

I got myself ready and the kids (5 & 7) and went up to the attorney’s office.  At the time my dad and step-mom did meet us at a park so they could stay socially distanced (my dad actually has only one lung).  I went to meet the sellers and get the contracts, because JOE still had to sign all the papers.

Get this:

Up until noon on June 25th, there were NO visitors allowed at the hospitals due to Covid.  Literally here I am, in a line at 11:59 am EST and the governor just decided to allow visitors.  Tell me that’s not a coincidence???  I go up to Joe’s hospital room, we facetime with the attorney so he can witness Joe signing and then I have to go back and drop all the paperwork off.

I share all of this because I did it scared, not knowing how Joe was going to be.  I was nervous about us all getting sick with Covid because I didn’t know much about it at that time.  I was so worried that if we didn’t take our real estate business seriously and do the right thing, we would lose this chance at running our own company and that we’d have to go back to the 9-5 life.

Sometimes you just have to push through the feelings and emotions, stop worrying and just SHOW UP.   I wouldn’t have any clue that because we did whatever it took that day, that just 4 years later we could continue running a business and also helping so many other people along the way!

So do the things no matter how scary they are and believe in yourself.  Also?  Take your health seriously  – if you don’t feel right, get it checked out and get second opinions! Joe had a tele-conference with one Dr and he said it was probably a pulled muscle.  Oops.

All this to say, people are truly waiting on the other side for you to take the messy massive action.
